LUSON (Alto Adige)

Natural wellness at 360°, in the hotel and at the farmstead

To the Alpine Pastures with Snowshoes
When you enter the Valle di Luson, it feels like turning a new page: there are meadows and silence. Yet you’re not cut off from the world; it’s just a different world. With the free Lusen app, you can choose from 50 trails. A word of caution: there are no ski lifts here; to move around or enjoy the view, you walk or cycle in summer and use snowshoes or cross-country skis in winter.

Chasing the Sun

An easy excursion leads to Campill (Monte Campiglio, 2190 m) on the Alpe di Luson, one of the most beautiful and sunniest spots in the region. Leave your car at the Oberflitt parking lot, climb 550 meters, and the view opens up to the Dolomites, the Sarntal Alps, the Zillertal Alps, the Rieserferner Group, and the Hohe Tauern. From there, crossing the pastures, you reach Rifugio Kreuzwiese, which offers a New Year’s Eve experience for 2025 and is open on weekends in January and February (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) as well as during Carnival week.

This ancient farmhouse, renovated according to bio-architecture principles, has a clear offering: disconnect, regenerate, and recharge in an environment perfectly suited for it. Thanks to its favorable exposure, the refuge enjoys many sunny days throughout the year, and in summer, a small alpine dairy operates here. The refuge, like the Naturhotel Lusnerhof, is managed by the Hunteregger family, who have made natural well-being their philosophy.

A Bio-Hotel that Heals with Ancient Recipes

Nestled in the woods, the Naturhotel Lusnerhof, part of the Vitalpina Hotels network (vitalpina.com), offers a wellness path and spa treatments in harmony with its surroundings (lusnerhof.it). Well-being is also reflected in the building itself, where stone and wood were salvaged from the ancient Gitterhof farmhouse in Luson. For generations, the Ragginer family of doctors lived there, curing people with recipes based on medicinal herbs and natural remedies. Herbal teas and natural creams produced at the hotel are inspired by their recipes. Heating is cleverly hidden behind limestone walls, and the heat filters through clay panels, delivering health benefits.
